Shown Colvin and KT Tunstall

KT Tunstall has never been one for creative stasis. The Grammy® nominated Scottish Musician burst onto the music scene with her 2004 multi-platinum debut, Eye to the Telescope, which spawned the global hits “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” and “Suddenly I See.” These songs, paired with her pioneering looping skills, established Tunstall as a captivating and dynamic must see performer, as well as a Songwriter with a singular knack for balancing introspective folk and propulsive rock.

Shawn Colvin stopped the industry in its tracks with her arresting 1989 debut, Steady On. The following spring, Colvin took home the GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album, establishing herself as a mainstay in the singer-songwriter genre. In the ensuing 30 years, Colvin has won three GRAMMY Awards, released thirteen superlative albums, written a critically acclaimed memoir, maintained a non-stop national and international touring schedule, appeared on countless television and radio programs, had her songs featured in major motion pictures and created a remarkable canon of work.

Johnny Mathis

The fourth of seven children, John Royce Mathis was born on September 30, 1935 in Gilmer, Texas to Clem and Mildred Mathis. As a small boy, the family moved to San Francisco. It was there that he learned an appreciation of music from his father who taught him his first song. Years later, Mathis’ first album was a collection of jazz oriented renditions of popular standards. Eventually he leaned toward soft, romantic ballads. “Wonderful, Wonderful,” “It’s Not for Me to Say,” and “Chances Are” were to become some of his most popular all-time greatest hits.

Blackberry Smoke

When Charlie Starr started writing the songs that would become Blackberry Smoke’s new album, Be Right Here, the first tune the vocalist/lead guitarist worked up was “Dig A Hole.” Formed by an old guitar riff married with a Wurlitzer chorus riff written by keyboardist Brandon Still, the swampy psychedelic-rock song is a powerful statement about choosing your path in life – whether you want to give into temptation or walk a more righteous road. “In life, we all are faced with choices,” Starr says. “Are we going to do good, or are we going to do bad? Are we going to love, or are we going to hate? We have a finite amount of time, each of us on this Earth. So probably want to make the best out of it instead of wasting time.” Come see what Charlie, Brandon, guitarist/vocalist Paul Jackson, bassist/vocalist Richard Turner, and drummer Brit Turner have in store when they hit the AMT stage in March.
