The Oak Ridge Boys

One of the longest-running groups in country music, the Oak Ridge Boys started life as a gospel quartet before gradually modernizing their style and moving into secular country-pop. Even at the height of their popularity in the late ’70s and early ’80s, their sound always remained deeply rooted in country gospel harmony. Their existence dates all the way back to World War II, circa 1942-1943, when a Knoxville, Tennessee group began performing gospel songs in nearby Oak Ridge.  The Oak Ridge Boys have earned five Grammy awards, and were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015.

Take Me Home: The Music of John Denver and TUSK the World's #1 Fleetwood Mac Tribute

Take Me Home: The Music of John Denver

After being awarded a full Rotary International scholarship to study music and voice and being selected to sing as the voice of John Denver in the CBS TV movie “Take Me Home, the John Denver Story,” there was no doubt that Jim Curry would continue to sing the praises and songs of America’s Troubadour – John Denver. Curry captures the natural essence of John Denver’s persona and music through his heartfelt delivery of Denver’s multi-platinum hits such as “Rocky Mountain High,” “Annie’s Song,” and “Country Roads.” “As John Denver’s former drummer and percussionist, working with Jim Curry has kept alive for me how it was playing with John. Jim has stayed true to John’s music and vision.” – Richie Gajate Garcia, John Denver percussionist.

Little River Band and On Your Feet

Little River Band with Firefall

Little River Band, one of Australia’s prominent musical exports, rose to fame on the strength of their smooth harmonies and mellow country-pop sound. Through the ’70s and ’80s the band enjoyed huge chart success with multi-platinum albums and chart topping hits like “Reminiscing,” “Cool Change,” “Lonesome Loser,” “The Night Owls,” “Take It Easy On Me,” “Happy Anniversary,” “Lady,” and more. According to BMI, “Reminiscing” has garnered rare status with over 5 million air plays on American radio, and “Lady” is close behind with over 4 million. In 1982, LRB set a record for having had Top 10 hits for six consecutive years. In fact, they were the very first band to achieve that remarkable plateau!

Formed in 1974 in Colorado, Firefall‘s easy country-rock sounds produced a series of chart singles including “Just Remember I Love You,” “Strange Way,” “Livin’ Ain’t Livin’,” “Goodbye I Love You,” and the Top Ten hit “You Are the Woman.” The group’s penchant for pop melodies and high-pitched harmonies also resulted in a series of successful LPs in the late 1970s.
