Country singer/songwriter Chris Young appeared on, and subsequently won, the reality TV singing competition Nashville Star in 2006. Since then, Chris has gone on to receive Grammy and ACM award nominations, and climb the Billboard country charts with hits like “The Man I Want to Be,” “Voices,” “You,” “Tomorrow,” “I Can Take It From Here,” and “Aw Naw.”

Singer/songwriter Natalie Merchant’s literate, socially conscious songs of the 1990s established her as one of the preeminent women in pop music. As lead singer of the alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs, Merchant helped the band gain critical and commercial success with songs such as “Wonder,” “Carnival,” “Jealousy,” and “Kind.”

April has finally arrived, which means that Music of the Night: The Songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber will be on stage soon. Our Singers, Music-of-the-Night-graphic Dancers, and Orchestra all arrived early this week to begin rehearsals, and our design, lighting and construction teams are hard at work creating the perfect atmosphere to go along with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s remarkable music. In just a few short weeks, all the rehearsing and hard work will pay off when we reprise this critically acclaimed show.

 

Audiences will be treated to music from classic shows such as Sunset Boulevard, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, and The Phantom of the Opera.

 

Come join us as we once again pay tribute to the music of Broadway’s master. Music of the Night: The Songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber opens April 15 and runs through October 11. Philadelphia-born musician Amos Lee performed his hit “Chill in the Air” on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! on Tuesday evening, March 18. If you missed this moving performance, check out the video below.

First, on March 14, check out the Folk Reunion featuring The Kingston Trio and The Brothers Four with Special Guest Tom Paxton. We’re sure the banjos, mandolins, basses and incredible harmonies of these well-known names in folk music will warm you up and leave you wanting more.

 

STOMP

On March 22, it’s the electrifying rhythms of STOMP. Using matchboxes, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters and more, these talented performers use everyday objects in this inventive and invigorating show. STOMP is an international percussion sensation, leaving audiences to exclaim “STOMP is captivating. My heart thumped to every beat.”

 

Bring It On: The Musical

Then on March 27 and 28, Bring It On: The Musical will be in the house. This musical comedy about friendship, jealousy, betrayal and forgiveness made its Broadway debut on August 1, 2012. The production earned Tony nominations for Best Musical and Best Choreography, and The New York Times called it, “Impossible to resist!”

On January 29, 2014, nominations were announced for the 49th annual Academy of Country Music Awards. AMT has been selected as one of five nominees in the 2014 ACM Awards Venue of the Year, Small Capacity category. American Music Theatre Receives ACM Award Nomination The other nominated venues in this category are located in Massachusetts, Georgia and Texas.

The winner will be named during the 8th Annual ACM Honors event on Tuesday, September 9 in Nashville, Tennessee.

“We’re honored to be recognized and nominated for this award by the Academy of Country Music,” said Jim Martin, AMT’s President/CEO. “We’re proud to have hosted so many exceptional country musicians in our venue in the past, and look forward to continuing our tradition of bringing the best country music to our region.”
