On February 10, 2022 the Academy of Country Music announced the nominations for the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards. American Music Theatre was selected as a nominee in the Theater of the Year category. This marks the second time that AMT has been honored with an ACM nomination.

One of five (5) venues in the nation competing for the award, AMT is the only theatre in Pennsylvania to be nominated this year. Other nominees include Andrew J. Brady ICON Music Center (Cincinnati, OH,) Blue Gate Performing Arts Center (Shipshewana, IN,) Ruth Eckerd Hall (Clearwater, FL,) and Ryman Auditorium (Nashville, TN.)

“We’re honored and humbled to be nominated by the Academy of Country Music and are so proud to help bring recognition to Lancaster’s live music scene,” said Brandon Martin, Director of Operations of American Music Theatre. “The Theater of the Year Award nomination truly speaks to the caliber of artists and entertainers that have graced our stage, as well as our region’s support of live country music.”

Known for its wide variety of performances, AMT is the only theatre in the country that features both touring concerts and original shows. Since 1997 the 1,600-seat venue has hosted numerous legendary country artists such as Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Vince Gill, Alabama, George Jones, Randy Travis, Merle Haggard, Charlie Daniels, and Marty Stuart along with some of today’s hottest stars like Scotty McCreery, Josh Turner, Jennifer Nettles, Trace Adkins, Chris Janson, Martina McBride, and Gary Allan. American Music Theatre has also hosted five of this year’s award nominees: Miranda Lambert, Chris Young, Little Big Town, Tenille Arts, and Lily Rose.

Theater of the Year nomination criteria involves industry reputation and includes buying or promoting at least ten (10) country concerts/dates during the eligibility period, remaining in good standing with all agents, and helping to promote country ticket sales. This year’s winner will be announced during the Academy of Country Music Honors, a special event held annually in August at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.

The ACM Awards live show will take place March 7 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and will livestream exclusively on Prime Video.

A Bronx Tale is an autobiographical one-man show written and performed by Chazz Palminteri. It tells the coming-of-age story of Calogero Anello, a young New Yorker torn between the temptations of organized crime and the values of his hardworking father. Written in 1988, Palminteri brings each and every character to life (18 in all,) including his friends and enemies — even his own family. A Bronx Tale hit the silver screen in 1993 after film star Robert De Niro, wanting to direct for the first time, saw the potential of the project. Palminteri played one of the flashier roles, Sonny, a gangster, in the movie version.

Piff the Magic Dragon, accompanied by his sidekick Mr. Piffles, the world’s only magic performing chihuahua, has won several Best of Las Vegas awards for his long-running show at the iconic Flamingo Hotel & Casino. He was a viral sensation on Penn & Teller: Fool Us and voted one of Variety’s Top Ten Comics to watch. In 2020, Piff triumphed over his heroes Jeff Ross, Natasha Leggero, and Judah Friedlander when he was crowned winner of TBS’ Tournament of Laughs.

Puddles Pity Party, the sad, giant clown with the golden voice, has amassed over 813K YouTube subscribers and performed sold out shows all over the globe including The Kennedy Center in DC, San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts, London’s Soho Theatre, and a residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Deftly combining melancholy with the absurd, Puddles has become a favorite of musical comedy legends like Eric Idle, Jack Black, Paul Reubens, and Weird Al. He has even won the approval of his long-standing man-crush and modern-day Renaissance Man, Kevin Costner.

Not bad for two “losers” from America’s Got Talent! These satin-adorned down-and-outers have been pals since they first met ages ago at Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Neither is easily amused, but when offered the chance to play a double bill, they both agreed it was a pretty good idea, and thus was born The Piff and Puddles Misery Loves Company Tour.

A Piff & Puddles Pre-Show Party Package is available – click here for more info.
