Have you had enough of cold and snow? Do you wish the Groundhog would have kept his “six more weeks of winter” prediction to himself? Well, you might not have liked hearing those words, but our furry friend has a few hot March show recommendations that are sure to melt those winter-time blahs. Here are three he thinks you’ll like, with great seats still available …

The Folk Reunion featuring The Kingston
Trio and The Brothers Four with Special Guest Tom Paxton

First, on March 14, check out the Folk Reunion featuring The Kingston Trio and The Brothers Four with Special Guest Tom Paxton. We’re sure the banjos, mandolins, basses and incredible harmonies of these well-known names in folk music will warm you up and leave you wanting more.

 

STOMP

On March 22, it’s the electrifying rhythms of STOMP. Using matchboxes, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters and more, these talented performers use everyday objects in this inventive and invigorating show. STOMP is an international percussion sensation, leaving audiences to exclaim “STOMP is captivating. My heart thumped to every beat.”

 

Bring It On: The Musical

Then on March 27 and 28, Bring It On: The Musical will be in the house. This musical comedy about friendship, jealousy, betrayal and forgiveness made its Broadway debut on August 1, 2012. The production earned Tony nominations for Best Musical and Best Choreography, and The New York Times called it, “Impossible to resist!”

With his laid-back vocal delivery and acoustic songwriting, Amos Lee draws inspiration from soul music, ’70s folk, and contemporary jazz. With the release of his self-titled debut album in 2004, the Philadelphia-born former schoolteacher immediately earned the attention of discerning music fans and fellow artists alike for his adult alternative, indie/rock style. In 2011, his album Mission Bell debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Currently, Lee is touring in support of his recent release “Mountains of Sorrow, Rivers of Song.”

On January 29, 2014, nominations were announced for the 49th annual Academy of Country Music Awards. AMT has been selected as one of five nominees in the 2014 ACM Awards Venue of the Year, Small Capacity category. American Music Theatre Receives ACM Award Nomination The other nominated venues in this category are located in Massachusetts, Georgia and Texas.

The winner will be named during the 8th Annual ACM Honors event on Tuesday, September 9 in Nashville, Tennessee.

“We’re honored to be recognized and nominated for this award by the Academy of Country Music,” said Jim Martin, AMT’s President/CEO. “We’re proud to have hosted so many exceptional country musicians in our venue in the past, and look forward to continuing our tradition of bringing the best country music to our region.”
