WXPN Welcomes Mary Chapin Carpenter

Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Mary Chapin Carpenter hits the road in 2016, performing timeless hits from her expansive and beloved 14-album catalog and new songs from her upcoming record “The Things That We Are Made Of.”  Produced by 2016 Producer of the Year Grammy-nominee Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton,) the album features 11 new songs written by Carpenter.  Over the course of her acclaimed career, Carpenter has recorded 14 albums and sold over 14 million records.  With hits like “Passionate Kisses” and “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her,” she has won five Grammy Awards, two CMA awards, and two Academy of Country Music awards.  Carpenter has performed alongside the New York Philharmonic, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and the London Concert Orchestra.  This folk-influenced country artist can also add “I Feel Lucky,” “Down at the Twist and Shout,” and “Shut Up and Kiss Me” to her long and accomplished musical resume.

Opening for Mary Chapin Carpenter will be award-winning singer/songwriter Rose Cousins.  Cousins earned a spot on NPR’s Top 10 Americana & Folk Albums, and her songs have appeared in climatic scenes in television shows including Greys Anatomy, Rookie Blue, Heartland, Hope for Wildlife and Drop Dead Diva.
