Jackson Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion, and personal politics. His laid-back, folk/rock style set the example for much of the music to come out of California during the 1970s. Unforgettable hits such as “Doctor My Eyes,” “Stay,” “Running on Empty,” “Somebody’s Baby,” and “Tender is the Night,” helped Browne earn his induction into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.

Largely considered a traditionalist country singer, Gary Allan’s distinctive sound has been compared to true Bakersfield country artists like Merle Haggard and Buck Owens — pure, dusty honky tonk and cracked, country ballads. Allan has produced seven Top Ten singles including “The One,” “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful,” and “Watching Airplanes,” and four hits that have reached #1 — “Man to Man,” “Tough Little Boys,” “Nothing On But the Radio,” and “Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain.)”

Australian singer and actress Olivia Newton-John was one of the most successful vocalists of the 1970s. This four-time Grammy award winner landed five songs on the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts — “I Honestly Love You,” “Have You Never Been Mellow,” “You’re the One That I Want,” “Magic,” and “Physical.” Who can forget Olivia’s turn as Sandy in Grease, the international hit movie that also included the smash singles “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” and “Summer Nights.”

Formed in a suburban Chicago basement in the early 1970s, Styx would eventually transform into one of the top arena rock acts in the US, due to their fondness for larger-than-life stage shows, huge rock anthems, and soaring power ballads. Styx draws from over four decades of barn-burning chart hits, joyous sing-a-longs, and hard-driving deep cuts. The band draws on an unlimited cache of ways to immerse one’s mind and body in their signature sound. These progressive rockers were responsible for many hit singles and classic rock radio standards including “Show Me the Way,” “The Best of Times,” “Mr. Roboto,” “Come Sail Away,” “Lady,” and “Babe.”
