Tommy James & The Shondells with The Box Tops
During the 1960s, few acts had a better run on the pop charts than Tommy James & The Shondells. James’ strong, expressive voice on upbeat pop tunes comes through with a solid rock ‘n roll punch. “Hanky Panky,” “Mony Mony,” “I Think We’re Alone Now,” “Crimson and Clover,” “Crystal Blue Persuasion,” and “Draggin’ The Line” are just some of their 24 Top 40 hits. Now in his fifth decade as a recording artist, Tommy James has been awarded 23 gold singles and nine platinum albums.
The Box Tops earned a reputation as one of the best blue-eyed soul groups of the ’60s. Fans will recall their smash hits “The Letter” and “Cry Like a Baby.” Touches of pop and psychedelia have also encompassed The Box Tops’ music.
