They first started popping up on screens back in the 1950s and 1960s, then progressed to having their own channel in the 1980s, and now they continue to prove their relevance by populating websites around the globe. With hundreds of thousands of videos at our fingertips, the music video really has come along way since it’s early beginnings. They often include full storylines, long shoots, and often even boast award-winning directors and actors. And with our role of bringing big-talent concerts in PA, it’s safe to say there’s a solid selection of AMT acts in these videos.
Now in a recurring feature here on our Blog, we’ll highlight some music videos of current and past AMT performers, as well as other videos that we think are worth sharing.
The Mavericks music video for their early 90s tune “Things I Cannot Change” is pretty interesting. Its focus is on the group coming together, making music, and having their music bring new life to a group of people who are in a sleep-like state.
Jamey Johnson’s music videos typically boast a solid storyline and high production values, and “Playing the Parts” is no exception. At 7 plus minutes, it is more of a short film than a music video, but this song, featuring actor Matthew McConaughey in a gorilla suit, is a prime example of the art, and effort, that can go into a music video.
