Goodies in the Green Room

According to our friends at Wikipedia, “a ‘green room’ is the space in a theater, or similar venue, which functions as a waiting room and lounge/eating area for performers before and after a performance. The origin of the term is often ascribed to such rooms historically being painted green, however, the modern green room is usually not green at all.”

AMT, like many other theaters, has a green room. It’s a nice large, windowed room with tables, chairs, a fridge, sink, dishwasher, stove, etc. It’s a very social place where in-house and celebrity performers go to eat, chat, or just hang out.

After reading the latest in a never-ending line of “why celebrities are/are not like the rest of us” stories on the internet, we decided to focus on one aspect and try to find out if we have anything in common with celebrities. With back-to-back-to-back concerts at hand, we decided to see if we’d find the same type of goodies in the green room as we’d find in our own kitchens. Here are some of the tasty treats we found: potato salad, milk, apple pie, chicken noodle and vegetable soup, a variety of jellies, yogurt, and cheesecake in the fridge, with the standard ketchup, mustard, pickles, mayo and various other condiments on the door. We also saw an assortment of breads, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, juice, and soda. To solidify that celebrities ARE like us, a peek in the freezer revealed several containers of both vanilla and chocolate ice cream and a large frozen pizza!

Our fun, quick visit to the green room showed us that celebrities are people, just like us, and indeed, we DO have many things in common!
