Awards

KISS has earned gold records in all RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) categories – qualifying for America’s #1 Gold Record Award Winning Group. They have sold over 100 million CDs and DVDs worldwide. As they continue to sell out stadiums and arenas, they break box-office records set by Elvis and the Beatles. In 2014, KISS was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Over the years, they have been nominated for several awards, including a Grammy for the 1999 single “Psycho Circus”. Although they didn’t win the Grammy, they received several other notable awards, including:

  • 2 Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards
  • 16 Metal Edge Readers’ Choice Awards
  • 1 People’s Choice Award

Though KISS is always a part of their lives, the band members do spend time on their own endeavors. Gene Simmons is an entrepreneur with several successful businesses. He has also appeared in several movies and television shows, some of which working as a producer.

In addition to his other interests, Simmons has several awards and recognitions of his own. While hosting the Aces & Angels Salute to the Troops charity event in 2011, Dallas presented Simmons with a key to the city. They even named a street after him – Gene Simmons Boulevard. Also in 2011, Winnipeg, Manitoba honored Simmons with a key to their city.

Revolver magazine awarded Simmons the Golden God award in 2012. The following year, the Smithsonian National Museum of American History accepted an autographed Gene Simmons Axe bass guitar into their esteemed collection. On a visit to Spain in 2014, the Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona (Royal Artistic Circle of Barcelona) awarded Simmons the Golden Medal, their most coveted and prestigious award.
