The Summer Doo Wop Cavalcade hits the American Music Theatre stage on Saturday, June 10th. There will be two shows, one at 2 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m. With groups like The Duprees, The Happenings, Brian Hayland, Jay Siegel’s Tokens, The Classics, The Capris, and The Toys in the lineup, you won’t want to miss it!

What is Doo Wop?
Doo Wop is a classic rock & roll and R&B music style, one of the most popular music genres during the late 1950s. Doo Wop is characterized by its close vocal harmonies. Each singer takes a vocal part and the group’s voices interweave to produce a smooth harmony. Because of this notable feature, many Doo Wop groups started out as a cappella groups, singing without musical instruments to back them up. Though Doo Wop has its origins in a cappella, few Doo Wop records were made without instrumental backing.
With a focus on vocal performance and close, smooth harmonies, it’s no wonder why Doo Wop continued to influence music for decades and continues to influence music today.
