Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a Love Song

Though often viewed as a commercial holiday in the U.S., Valentine’s Day is still known as the day of love. It’s a day to celebrate with the people you love as well as celebrating being in love. In honor of Valentine’s Day, we’d like to share the top three songs that Billboard considers to be the best love songs of all time, based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Number 3

“We Found Love” – Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris

Hot 100 Peak: No. 1 for 10 weeks (2011)

“We Found Love” appeared on Talk That Talk, Rihanna’s sixth studio album. Calvin Harris wrote and produced the track while also featuring on it. It also appears on 18 Months, Harris’ third album. After topping the charts for ten weeks, it became the longest running number-one single of 2011. “We Found Love” surpassed Rihanna’s “Umbrella” to become her longest running number-one single.

Number 2

“I’ll Make Love to You” – Boyz II Men

Hot 100 Peak: No. 1 for 14 weeks (1994)

“I’ll Make Love to You” was the lead single from Boyz II Men’s second album II. It was written by Babyface and met massive commercial success upon release. With over 1,627,000 copies sold domestically, it earned a platinum certification. This single won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1995 and also earned two American Music Awards. Billboard ranks it at number 19 on their list of All-Time Top 100 Songs.
