AMT/WROZ “Duets” Contest
Recently, local radio station WROZ, 101 The Rose, offered a fun contest in connection with our current Original Show, American Icons, on stage now through October 7. The Duets contest is giving four lucky finalists the opportunity to sing a duet on stage with a cast member prior to the American Icons evening show on WROZ Night, Friday, September 7.
For two weeks, WROZ listeners had the opportunity to call into the radio station at 6:50 and 7:50 a.m. each morning and sing a song of their choice during on-air open auditions. WROZ had lots of talented singers call in to audition, and the field was narrowed down to 14.
Those fortunate 14 will now have the opportunity to sing a cappella for our Artistic Director, Andrea McCormick, during a live audition on Wednesday, August 22. Andrea will take on the difficult task of selecting four singers to move on to the “finals,” and will announce the names on WROZ on Monday, August 27.
Once the four finalists are selected, Andrea will then decide which finalist will perform a duet with which cast member. Each finalist will be assigned a song that will complement his or her talents, and they’ll have the opportunity to rehearse the song with their duet partner prior to performing.
On WROZ Night, each of the four finalists and their partners will perform their duet in front of a live audience during a pre-show performance. If you’d like to purchase tickets to hear the four finalists perform their duets on WROZ Night, September 7, prior to the show, click here.
We’d like to thank WROZ for all their efforts in our Duets contest, and to all those folks who were courageous enough to sing on the air.
